Olcote Wellbeing isn’t all about fitness on the outside, making you stronger and pain free, it’s about the inside too. We can often be, or appear, physically strong whilst suppressing hidden pain, anxiety and insecurities that can leave us feeling emotionally vulnerable and affecting our mental wellbeing.

I am a fully qualified Counsellor and prior to my private practice worked ‘at the coal face’ as a telephone counsellor and face to face in the charity sector. Although a I am a general practising Counsellor, I have a special interest in positive thinking strategies, coping with stress and anxiety, self esteem and low confidence, body confidence and eating disorders and couple and relationship difficulties.

What can counselling offer me?

Life is spent rushing around, keeping to busy schedules, juggling work, family and friends, placing demands and expectations on ourselves and others and getting frustrated when those expectations are not met. We spend most of our time saying ‘Yes’ when we really want to say ‘No’ and kicking back and giving ourselves time to ‘just be’. Many of us consciously or subconsciously carry limiting beliefs and past emotional stresses and experiences around with us which can make the world a difficult place to live in and fit in to. 

Counselling or ‘Talking Therapy’  can often help you overcome those problems when you feel unable to cope alone. Counselling can be helpful to lots of different people all trying to deal with many different situations. From depression, low self esteem and being unhappy with body image to relationship issues with people or food, family problems or loss and bereavement. Sometimes it can just be the stress of the modern world that can lead to many physical and mental disorders.

It can often be difficult to talk to those close to you and a professional counsellor who is not part of your circle can offer a way to help you find your way through.

As a Counsellor, I am here to help you when you’re going through a bad time. I can give you the space and the time to talk, think, sound off or cry. Say what you can’t say to others, help you be who you need to be.

Using a variety of techniques, including active listening and non-directive counselling, effective communication strategies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and sometimes the use of hypnosis techniques. I am there to give you an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way, to help you uncover and develop your own answers, to respect your views and opinions - I am not there to judge, just to help.   

Sessions are usually an hour in length and can be one-to-one, in a couple or the family unit. Often with couple and relationship counselling it is beneficial in the resolution process to have a mix of individual and joint sessions.

Sessions are conducted online , via video call, over the telephone or face to face in a public but quiet area of your choice so you can be in an environment you feel safe and comfortable in.
